Cyclocross Week #2: Whirlybird & Pineapple Crush Cross
Cyclocross season rolled on with back-to-back races this past weekend, featuring Whirlybird Cross on Saturday, September 13, and Pineapple Crush Cross on Sunday, September 14. Riders battled through dry technical courses, ALL the 180s, and fast straights to put down some impressive results.
Whirlybird Cross – September 13, 2025
The action kicked off at Whirlybird Cross, where the juniors set the tone for the weekend. Kendall Craven dominated the Junior Women 9–14 category, taking home the win in commanding fashion and showing great form early in the season.
In the Cat 4/5 Men’s field, Niko Warner pushed hard against a deep older field, finishing 26th. The race provided valuable experience for the young rider, who would bounce back impressively the next day.
Pineapple Crush Cross – September 14, 2025
Sunday’s Pineapple Crush Cross brought more strong performances across the board.
Tamara Warner rode a strong race in the Cat 4/5 Women’s field, finishing 5th after starting strong and getting faster through the course!
Niko Warner returned to action, this time in Junior Men 9–14, and grabbed a strong 3rd place against a much older field.
Xenia Binkley stood out with a 2nd-place finish in Junior Women 9–14 against a tough opponent in Eliana Mumaw who was out for blood after her Sunday race! And Nora Phillips put up an impressive 8th place showing true grit in her 2nd ever cross race!
Looking Ahead
Two races in two days brought out the best in the riders, with standout podiums from Kendall Craven, Xenia Binkley, and Niko Warner. As the season continues, it’s clear that the local cyclocross scene is packed with young talent and experienced riders pushing for top results.
