Season Opener at Bubblecross: Vulcan Kicks Off Cyclocross in the Sand

Cyclocross season is back! Team Vulcan kicked off the fall campaign on September 6 at Bubblecross in West Milford, NJ — the opening race of the NJ Cyclocross Cup and one of the most fun, most technical courses in the tri-state area. Back on the calendar this year and run by Team Town Cycle, the course threw everything at our riders: grassy climbs, sneaky-fast descents, singletrack through the woods, and not one but two sand sections, including a long beach stretch that had the whole pit lane cheering.

Junior Women 9–12 – Nora Phillips & Xenia Binkley
Our young women lit up the opening race. Nora Phillips charged to a 2nd-place podium, with Xenia Binkley right alongside her in 3rd — a double-podium day to start the season and a great sign of the form to come.

Junior Men 9–12 – Juno Miller
Juno Miller came out swinging, riding a smart, aggressive race across the sand and singletrack to take 2nd place. A podium in the season opener — exactly the kind of start every racer dreams of.

Junior Men 15–18 – Gunnar Miller
In the older, deeper field, Gunnar Miller put down a strong, steady effort to finish 4th, knocking on the door of the podium and setting himself up well for the weeks ahead.

Looking Ahead
Three podiums and a 4th place in the season's very first race — what a way to start! With the sand of Bubblecross behind them, our riders are off and rolling into a long fall of cyclocross. Congratulations to everyone who lined up, and a huge thanks to the families and friends who made the trip. Onward!
