The cyclocross season rolled on this weekend, and Vulcan was out in force! After opening the campaign earlier this month at Pineapple Crush Cross, the team split up to take on two very different challenges — the fast, family-friendly Carpenter Cross in Horsham, PA, and the big-stage USCX opener up in Rochester, NY. The result? Two wins, a stack of podiums, and a whole lot of Vulcan pink on course.
Carpenter Cross – Horsham, PA (Saturday, Sept 19)
The PACX "Carpenter Cross Trifecta" rolled out at its new home in Chestnut Creek Park, and our riders came ready to race.
Xenia Binkley led the way with a win in Junior Women 9–14 — a commanding ride. In the Junior Men 9–14 field, Niko Warner grabbed a strong 2nd place, while Will Binkley battled through a deep field to finish 9th in one of his first races in the category.
The podiums kept coming: Jade Boudreault took the top step in Women U19, and teammate Marc-Edouard Boudreault rounded out the Men U19 podium in 3rd. Tamara Warner also landed on the box with 3rd in the Women Cat 1/2/3 race, mixing it up against a tough, experienced field.
Rochester Cyclocross – Genesee Valley Park (Saturday & Sunday)
Meanwhile, up in New York, Nora Phillips, Kendal Craven, and Gunnar Miller took on the season opener of the Trek USCX Series — one of the biggest stops on the U.S. calendar, drawing more than 750 riders from across the U.S., Canada, and Europe to a demanding UCI course packed with barriers, run-ups, and a Belgian staircase.
Nora Phillips was sensational, racing to 2nd place in Junior Women 9–10 on both Saturday (UCI C1) and Sunday (UCI C2) — back-to-back podiums on a national stage! Kendal Craven took on the deep Women Cat 3 field both days, placing 10th on Saturday and 9th on Sunday. And Gunnar Miller jumped into the big Senior Men Cat 4/5 field, riding to 14th on Saturday before moving up to a strong 10th on Sunday — as Rochester added a new flyover and a fresh opening lap for day two.
Looking Ahead
Two wins and five more trips to the podium, with the whole squad on the board — a huge weekend for the team! Huge congratulations to Xenia, Jade, Niko, Marc-Edouard, Tamara, Nora, Kendal, and Gunnar, and thanks as always to the families who make these race weekends happen. The pink is flying — here's to the weeks ahead!
